School of translators

The Toledo School of Translators is a research center at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, which started its activities in 1994. Its activity focuses on the preparation of translators of Arabic and Hebrew, taught postgraduate teaching through the course Specialist Spanish-Arabic translation, as well as through the seminars Hebrew-English translation and, since 1999, offers courses Introduction of the Arabic language.

Promotes besides various publications and translation software and research, in whose development collaborating institutions and other professionals connected with the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Motivated by a strong desire to become a space of meeting and dialogue, has hosted and organized symposia and numerous national and international conferences dealing with translation and cultural relations between Europe and the Mediterranean.

The school has a library-documentation centre specializing in issues related to the activity that develops, and hosts a specific depth documentary about the history of the Toledo School of Translators in the Middle Ages.

It sits in the palace of King Don Pedro, the fourteenth century Mudejar building located in the old town, and has assembly hall, multimedia room, meeting room and classrooms.
