Hermitage of Cristo de la Vega

The hermitage of Cristo de la Vega is built on the remains of the Visigoth basilica of Santa Leocadia, where the apse from the XIII Century is preserved, the rest being destroyed in the War of Independence.

Outside the apse there are remains of the colours of the only decorated nave, both inside and outside, with four sets of narrow blind arches, unusual in interiors.

The presbytery is watched over by a sculpture of Christ with one hand free of the crucifixion nails, hero of the famous legend recorded by Zorrilla as "A good judge, a better witness". Since the XVII Century, the famous “reviernes”, the seven weeks between Easter and the Pentecost.
